KGMI Site Launch

Posted Monday, September 22, 2008 at 7:53 PM

Another website I designed for Saga Communications launched today. This time around, it was for KGMI, a news-talk station in Bellingham, WA. This was a pet project for me for a couple reasons. First of all, they're a station from the Pacific Northwest, located only an hour and a half or so from where I grew up. so us west coasters got to stick together and represent! Second, since we started this project of 90 or so new site rollouts, I've wanted to get my hands dirty with a news site. Boring for some, I know, but I had some ideas I really wanted to execute with this one, and I was given the opportunity to do so.

Anyway, that all to say, it's up.

I'm on the Air!

Today, I fulfilled a life-goal and added to my schizophrenic resume.

It's always been a dream of mine to work in radio. I've always been fascinated with it. Well, this morning, I did my first on-air shift at Sunny 95 in Columbus. I have no idea why anyone would hand me the keys to a 22,000 watt transmitter, but I welcomed the opportunity.

Honestly, I loved every minute of it. Granted, I hit a few small potholes along the way, but considering it was my very first go-around, I feel like things went well.

I've Become Fodder

Posted Monday, August 25, 2008 at 8:28 PM

This morning, my co-worker, Andrew, and I were both fodder for the morning show at the radio station where we work. Apparently they overheard us excitedly discussing Andrew's new laptop, and thought it was worth sharing with all of Columbus.

Just to get the nerd facts straight, he bought a MacBook Pro and NOT an iMac...there's a big difference! And technically, we're not IT guys...we're interactive media guys. So...yeah...get it straight!

Hmm...I guess we had it coming.

Listen here for all the juicy bits.

New Website

I recently took a job with Saga Communications as a member of their interactive team. That's a fancy way of saying I've been tasked with the job of assisting with the design and rollout of new websites for all 90+ of their media holdings.

Recently, my first site design launched. BIG Hits B107-9 in Columbus, Ohio is now sporting a new website crafted by the fingertips of yours truly. More sites to come soon. Check the design page for updates.

There Goes My Hero

Posted Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 1:07 PM

On Tuesday night, I attended my first Cincinnati Reds game with my father (I got the tickets for him as his Father's Day gift). As luck would have it, it was Ken Griffey, Jr. night in honor of his hitting 600 home runs.

Growing up as a kid, Griffey was my hero. My family will tell you that would be putting it lightly. And although he was traded away from Seattle 8 years ago, it was a strange feeling to be in a different ballpark, in a different city, seeing a different collection of fans claiming him as their own.

I guess with the Mariners in such turmoil right now, it's hard to watch our former superstar bring glory to any other city (even if the Reds are in last place as well).

Maybe I just need to learn to share.

Hackers are Scum

So I spent the better portion of my free time last week as a digital janitor. I had to clean up the mess left by a cyber terrorist on a client's website. Apparently, some low life living in his mother's basement thought it would be a productive use of his time to cripple an innocent party's site for his own amusement.

I've recently updated some of my design portfolio including the 2008 scorecard I designed for the Lake County Captains. The Captains are the Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.

I've also uploaded new projects for the Everett AquaSox , class A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, Wenatchee AppleSox, an independent baseball club located in Wenatchee, WA, and Lancaster JetHawks, class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

New Music

I just finished producing an EP for a new friend of mine. Samantha Leslie has just released her first record and I was privileged enough to be a part of it. I produced, mixed and mastered the project. I also lent my hand to most of the instrumentation. If you get a chance, check out her music and leave a comment or two!

Record Snowfall

Posted Sunday, March 09, 2008 at 7:24 AM

In case you hadn't heard, Columbus Ohio saw record snowfall this weekend. More than 20 inches of snow fell from a monster storm in about 24 hours. Since the storm was making international headlines, I decided to strap on my snowshoes and have a look.
